Born in 1977 in the UK, of Mexican origin, it was in Nebraska USA where Tupac obtained his BFA (Creighton University) under the direction of John Thein and National Geographic photographer Fr. Don Doll.
Tupac Martir is an artist, visual designer and creative director with a diverse portfolio of projects in the arts and entertainment. He has been involved in the production design, visuals and lighting design for Elton John, Sting, Beyoncé, Coachella New York Light Festival, Nederland Dans Theater, Xu Bing at the V&A Museum, the Serpentine Gallery and the Old Vic Tunnels, among others. Over the years, Tupac has become synonymous with the fashion scene in London, Paris, Milan and New York. His work has appeared in shows for leading design houses: Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson and Thomas Tait, among others. As an artist, he has exhibited in Mexico, USA, Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, UK, as well as officially participating in the Morelia Film Festival with his multidisciplinary piece ‘The Gentleman, The Merrmaid, Mexican Cinema, Loteria”, originally created for the British Council as part of the Cultural Olympics during London 2012. Tupac’s work has been published in major publications such as Wallpaper Magazine, Vogue, Rolling Stone, NME, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Live Design and LSI. He has built a significant reputation in creating unique multidisciplinary productions of various art forms, including two of his own production and funding, ‘Nierka’ and ‘Looking Outside My Window’.
In March 2016 he presented his work at two conferences for AAI in Barcelona and Madrid. He was named Guest Member of the AAI
