The episode ‘Lighting design in Latin America: techniques, styles and pedagogies’ will be next Friday, November 19, at 18:00h through Zoom.
We will be joined by: Gonzalo Córdova, Horacio Efron and Pablo Pulido (AAI). On this occasion, our colleague Ezequiel Nobili will act as moderator in this talk.

GONZALO CORDOVA
He has designed lighting for directors such as Ruben Szuchmacher, André Heller-Lopes, Alfredo Arias, Mariana Obersztern, Silvio Lang, Cintia Miraglia. In dance she works with Diana Theocharidis and Union Tanguera.
In opera productions, with André Heller-Lopes, he has done the lighting for Don Pasquale and Lucia de Lammermoor, Faust and La Zorrita Astuta and together Don Giovanni.
With Rubén Szuchmacher he has worked in Ariadne auf Naxo, Cosi fan Tutte, Trisestri and Candide.
Scenography and lights for Leonor Manso in Lucia de Lammermoor and Tosca, and for María Jaunarena in Flauta Mágica, Otra Vuelta de Tuerca, Medea, Hamlet and for Ana D’Anna in El barbero de Sevilla, Madama Butterfly, Bohéme,Rigoletto, Cuentos de Hoffman and Traviatta.
As director: “Appia Project” for Enclaves at CETC, “Schiller’s Limit”, the illumination of the Puente de la Boca, Blue Line in the subways of Buenos Aires. Also the staging of Emma Bovary and Peanuts with chocolate 2 with Ana Bovo, as well as “The Persians” by Aeschylus and “The Inhuman” with Alejandra Radano. He directed Marta Roca in “Palabras Cuerdas”, co-directed with Diego Starosta and Diego Vainer “El imitador de Demóstenes”.
He wrote two essays on stage lighting “La Trampa de Goethe” and “La Iluminación Escénica”, edited by El Rojas.
He has been awarded the Premio Teatros del Mundo for “El Experimento Damanthal” and ACE 2005 for “Las Troyanas” and “Enrique IV”; ACE 2007 for “Muerte de un Viajante” and “Quartet”, Estrella de Mar 2009 for “En la Cama” and Premio KONEX 2011, in 2012 for “Extraños en el tren”, 2013 for “La dama de negro” 2014 for “La laguna dorada y Dios Mio”. She has won the Teatros del Mundo Awards in 2013 and the Maria Guerrero 2014 for Querido Ibsen, Soy Nora, Love Love Love and Cabaña Suiza, Trinidad Guevara Award 2015 for “La nueva autoridad”, and in 2016 Trinidad Guevara Award for “Deshonrada”. Hugo” Award for Love Musik, 2017 Florencio Sánchez for “All the things in the world”.
At present, he is a Professor at the National University of the Arts in the subject of Projectual II, in History of Stage Lighting and the Musical Theatre Workshop in the career of lighting design for shows.

HORACIO EFRON In 1984 he began his activities in the show business as a lighting assistant and from that moment on he developed in all the areas that comprise the realization of a staging. He stood out as head of lighting, programmer and operator in big national and foreign productions. He has designed for opera, theatre, music festivals, brands, etc: The Coronation of Poppea, Allies, Piedade, Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, The Theatre of Wonders/The Tempest Songbook, Mahagonny Songspiel, Jokes and Lamentations, Carmen, Tristan and Isolde, Werther, Diary of a Vanished/Poor Sailor, Elektra, Rake’s Progress, Faust, Macbeth, Jonny Spielt Auf, Otello, Eugenio Onieguin, Marriage of Figaro, Rigoletto, Tosca, among other operas. He served as Director of Technical Production at the Teatro Argentino de la Plata between 2012 and 2014, being in charge of the productions of Pepita Giménez, Gold of the Rhine, Werther, Traviata, Dona Francisquita, Flying Dutchman, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, La Sylphide, among many others. He is a founding member of ADEA, Asociación de Diseñadores Escénicos Argentinos. Since 2016, he is the Coordinator of the Scenic Lighting Area of the Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK).
PABLO PULIDO
As an autodidact he began his experiences in lighting in 1998, initially dedicated to the technical and investigating the behavior of the equipment, to later address the lighting design and enter the field of entertainment at a professional level. He is currently in charge of lighting at the Ballet Nacional Sodre (Uruguay) and teaches Lighting Workshop III and IV at the Escuela Municipal de Arte Dramático de Montevideo (EMAD).
He is also a freelance designer and programmer of music shows and equipment demonstration for Robe Lighting Latin America.
MODERATOR: EZEQUIEL NOBILI (AAI) Lighting Designer, Artist and AAI Partner Graduated in Image and Sound Design at the Escuela Panamericana de Arte, he began his professional career as a stage lighting designer in 1988. Throughout his creative career he has worked in various fields and disciplines of the performing and audiovisual arts, in projects that stand out for their search for a perfect balance between the artistic, the aesthetic and the experimental use of a specialized technology in constant change. At the same time, he combines his artistic work with teaching on the Master’s Degree in Ephemeral Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and various functions on the Board of Directors of the AAI.
