Born in Philadelphia (USA), he has lived in England for 30 years.
He is currently Vice-President of the ALD (British Association of Lighting Designers).
Bronze medal in Lighting Design at the World Stage Design show in Toronto in 2005. Two-time winner of the Olivier Award for Best Lighting Design (1994 and 1998) and two Tony Awards for “An Inspector Calls” and “Billy Elliot, The Musical” on Broadway.
He has worked in many theatres and companies around the world.
In March 2014, on the occasion of AFIAL, he was invited by the AAI to give a masterclass about his professional career and about “Billy Elliot, the musical” as a case study. He was appointed Guest Member of the AAI.
