On September 16, 2013, the AAI with the support of the Teatro Real and the participation of its sponsors and collaborators, held in the Gayarre Hall of the Teatro Real the second meeting of the series “Encounters with light” with the prestigious lighting designer Eduardo Bravo, partner of AAI. This event is the continuation of the meeting that took place in the same place last July with the participation of the American designer Jennifer Tipton.
Eduardo Bravo has extensive lyrical lighting experience. His professional activity has taken him to most theatres and lyric festivals in Spain, as well as abroad (among others Nissei Theatre in Tokyo, Teatro Bellas Artes in Mexico, Edinburgh Festival, Nice Opera, Monte-Carlo Opera, Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Teatro Châtelet in Paris, Maggio Musicale in Florence, Theater an der Wien in Vienna, Opera Los Angeles, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires).
Eduardo shared with those present his knowledge and his beginnings, of which we can highlight that he has had the good fortune to enter this profession with the great pioneers of the industry. He then described in detail his work on the opera The Barber of Seville, which those present had the opportunity to see a pre-hearsal rehearsal at the Teatro Real.
Among the many things he told, it is very interesting his way of resolving the light in a very closed space, due to the dimensions of the scenographic elements, with low lateral towers that are supported on carras and move according to the composition of the scene. He has also done a very exquisite job with the different shades of white to give volume to the sets and enhance the drama of each of the moments.
And finally he answered all the doubts and questions of the listeners in a practical and transparent way.
As in the previous meeting, the result was a very enriching experience for all participants.
