Photo exhibition by Aljoša Rebolj

From January 31 to February 12, 2017 From 10:00 am. at 22:00 h.

FAÇADE OF THE SPANISH THEATRE. SANTA ANA SQUARE

What illuminates our dreams, which occur in complete darkness, behind our closed eyes? The memory of the light that went out or the light of the future, which we borrow as a foretaste of tomorrow that has yet to dawn?

You see moments that would have been lost in time like tears in the rain if you had not captured them at the precise moment, the sacred moment, and sculpted them into images, archetypal and primordial, that inhabit my theater. Images never seen before. Hexagram images of a moment. Of visions of the center of time. The entity time, in the space of the theatre, becomes the time-space-theatre, the time-space of an extracted matrix, a pure act that reveals the effect of different emotional states: from stillness in movement, and, in stillness, incessant movement. The body outlines the profile of time. We are not the only ones who stare into the eyes of the past and the future, both implacable. The time of memory. Images of thought in action, transferable to eternity. Reversibility, an instantaneous shot, a flash. The world as representation. The diagnosis of the instant. The scanning of the gaze. The waiting room of memory. The poetry of farewell. The art of travelling. Metamorphosis. Reincarnation. Mutations.

Your photographs, your “sculptures of time”, are images of the cosmic matrix, memories of a possible future, landscapes of thoughts travelling at incredible speed through the air, air of silence composed of images. You photograph the world you know, you photograph the world you create. Your time and your memory flowing, one into the other, in photographs taken from reality that become theatre.
