Showlight is an international trade fair that takes place every 4 years in different locations. This year it will take place in the Renaissance city of Florence in Italy, in the picturesque location of the Palazzo dei Congressi between 20-23 May. Its main focus is its eclectic presentation of speakers, which aims to make these presentations both entertaining and informative. Showlight also places a strong emphasis on networking among those who love lighting in all its forms. It is one of the few international events organized specifically by and for lighting professionals from different fields such as theatre, television, cinema, architecture and events. It provides a unique opportunity to bring together people from all disciplines and levels of experience to mingle and exchange ideas and stories.
In the following link http://www.showlight.org/exhibitor-list/ you can consult the 42 Exhibitors that will meet this year.
Among others, our friends The Association of Lighting Designers (ALD) will be present as well as a large number of Associations and Organizations where they will have the opportunity to share their goals and achievements. On this occasion, AAI will also be part of this unavoidable meeting.
The general format is that everyone arrives in Florence on Saturday night and meets for a drink at a welcome evening. The next morning starts early with the conference on Sunday, with speakers presenting 20-minute papers in groups of three, followed by a question and answer session at the end of each session. There is also a Session where a panel of three lighting programmers will explore the role they play within the chain of a play’s lighting production, examining how this vital role varies in different genres of lighting and how they got to where they are.
