It has been arduous and laborious work through technical reports, meetings and contacts with the various sectors of culture and political representatives of all parties, to reach the 6th of September in which the plenary session of the Congress of Deputies unanimously approved the report of the Sub-Commission for the Elaboration of an Artist’s Statute.

We thank and acknowledge the work of the Platform in Defence of Culture for its persevering activity in the search for agreement within the wide range of culture and for the conciliatory spirit that characterises it. Above any kind of belligerence between any of the representatives of the various disciplines of this cultural world, the vision of the fairest future for creators, interpreters, performers, authors and in general workers of the culture to which so many of us dedicate our lives always prevails.

We know that there is still a long way to go and that the road is not a short one until those of us who are passionate about our profession find a long-awaited recognition of our copyrights, but on this road, we meet authentic professionals from different media who, far from deceiving us, light the way. For us, light and shadow are exciting and fundamental when it comes to understanding things and not making mistakes because we are dazzled by reflections.

One of these professionals who attended our first copyright day is called Javier Campillo to whom we reiterate our gratitude for his contributions and our support in his conciliatory and respectful work with the discrepancies, which, if there are any, should be as far as possible from rudeness

The important thing is that culture, as a strategic and life-enriching sector, should be an example of a positive, peaceful and conscience-creating attitude within the sometimes frenetic activity of living together. It is the instrument, the tool that takes us away from barbarism, ignorance and elementary primitivism. Come the people who within our passion for this profession, take care to be and represent the meaning of this enormous word that is: CULTURE.
