As part of the event “Design, Art, Technology 25 YEARS OF ENCOUNTERS”, the Association of Lighting and Video Scene Authors has named Francisco Leal an honorary member.
Technical director, set designer and lighting designer, he has collaborated with directors such as José Tamayo, José Carlos Plaza, Josefina Molina, Robert Wilson, Miguel Narros, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, William Layton, José Luis Gómez and Plácido Domingo. He has worked in theaters such as: Teatro Real, Teatro de la Zarzuela, Gran Teatro del Liceu, La Maestranza, Palau de les Arts, Colón de Buenos Aires, Regio de Turin, City Center New York, Los Angeles Opera…
From his extensive career we can highlight: Phaedra by Sophocles, Bodas de Sangre by García Lorca, and El cerco de Leningrado by Sanchis Sinisterra; operas and zarzuelas: Divinas palabra by García Abril (opening of the Teatro Real), San Antonio de La Florida, Goyescas, Los diamantes de la corona, El gato montés, La verbena de la paloma and Los amores de la Inés, are among his latest works.
Between 1983 and 1989, he was technical director of the Teatro Bellas Artes and Nuevo Apolo; from 1989 to 1994, technical director of the CDN and since 1995 he has been technical director of the FITCA. He has been stage advisor of the following theaters: Nuevo Apolo de Madrid, Patio de Comedias Torralba de Calatrava, Teatro Circo de Murcia or the Corral de Comedias de Almagro. He was also technical advisor for the 1992 Universal Exposition.
