World Theatre Day 2021 message, by Helen Mirren

“What a difficult period for show business, for all the artists, technicians, stagehands and for the women who have fought for this profession so stigmatized by economic insecurity. It may be that this situation of permanent insecurity has made them stronger so that they can survive this pandemic with dignity. Their imagination has been translated in these new circumstances into inventive, imaginative, moving ways of communicating, all this of course thanks to the Internet. Human beings have been telling each other stories since time immemorial, since we existed on the planet. The wonderful culture of theatre will live as long as we inhabit the earth. The creative impulse of writers, designers, singers, actors, musicians and directors will never be strangled and in the very near future it will develop again with force and with a new way of seeing the world. I can’t wait! Hellen MIRREN, Actress in film, theatre and television. Spanish translation by Yahaira SALAZAR, president of the New ITI Center Venezuela
